Apple Health
How do I connect ATHA to Apple Health?
- Open ATHA Settings.
- Find the Apple Health section.
- Enable Save sessions if you want completed sessions saved as Mindful Sessions.
- Enable Share reflections if you want supported reflections written as State of Mind entries.
- Approve the requested Health permissions in the iOS authorization sheet.
When the required permissions are granted, ATHA can show the Apple Health status as connected.
Why does Apple Health show “Not connected”?
Check that at least one ATHA Health feature is enabled and that iOS permission was granted. You can review permissions from the Health app or iOS Settings. If a permission was previously denied, turning the ATHA switch on again may not show a new system prompt; update the permission from Apple's Health access controls.
What does ATHA write to Apple Health?
When enabled, ATHA can write completed breathing session duration as Mindful Sessions. On supported iOS versions, reflections you explicitly choose to share can be written as State of Mind entries.
Can I use ATHA without Apple Health?
Yes. Apple Health integration is optional. Core breathing, custom sessions, routines, visuals, garden, and local insights do not require Health access.
Sessions & routines
How do I create a custom breathing pattern?
Open Explore or Practices, choose Create your own, name your pattern, then set the duration of Inhale, Hold in, Exhale, and Hold out. A phase can be set to zero if you do not want to use it. Save the pattern when it feels right.
What happens during a breathing session?
ATHA follows the timing of the selected breathing technique and uses the chosen ambient visual to communicate inhale, hold, exhale, and hold-out states. Depending on your settings, the session may also use haptics and sound cues.
How do routines work?
A routine helps you return to a practice at a chosen time. Create a routine, select a breathing practice, choose its schedule, and enable reminders if you want a notification.
Why am I not receiving reminders?
- Confirm ATHA has notification permission in iOS Settings.
- Check that the relevant reminder or routine is enabled in ATHA.
- Verify the scheduled time and your device Focus / notification settings.
- If you recently changed time zone, reopen ATHA so local schedules can refresh.
What is the Garden?
Garden is a visual metaphor for your practice history. As your cumulative breathing time grows, the scene can progress from a seed toward a sprout, plant, tree, garden, and forest. It does not claim that real plants are being grown or that breathing has a direct environmental effect.
Insights & progress
What statistics can ATHA show?
Depending on available history, ATHA can show mindful minutes, session count, active days, current and longest streaks, average session duration, completion rate, favorite practice, practice-over-time trends, records, calendar history, and personal patterns such as preferred time or duration.
What does “most effective breaths” mean?
It is based on your own post-session feedback — for example, how often you reported feeling better after a particular practice. It is a personal history insight, not a medical measurement or treatment claim.
Why are some insights unavailable?
Some patterns need enough completed sessions or reflection data before they become meaningful. ATHA may wait until there is sufficient local history instead of showing a misleading conclusion from only one or two sessions.
Privacy & data
Does ATHA have a cloud account?
ATHA is designed without a developer-controlled cloud backend for your breathing history. Core app data stays on your device. Your operating system may still include app data in device backups depending on your Apple / iCloud settings.
What happens if I delete the app?
Locally stored ATHA data may be removed when the app is deleted, subject to your device backup and restoration settings. Apple Health entries are separate from ATHA's local storage and may remain in the Health app until you manage them there.
Does ATHA sell my health or breathing data?
No. ATHA does not sell, rent, or trade your breathing history, reflections, or Apple Health data for advertising or marketing.

Pricing
Does ATHA cost anything?
No. ATHA is free, with no subscription, no in-app purchases and no advertising. Every feature is available without payment, and nothing is locked behind a trial.
Why am I being asked to pay for something?
You should not be. ATHA contains no in-app purchases. If you encounter anything resembling a payment prompt inside the app, please report it by email — it is a bug, not a feature.
Will ATHA stay free?
There is no paid tier planned at present. If paid features are ever introduced, it will be stated on the website before it happens, and features you already rely on will not be removed and sold back to you.
