Features

Every feature,
on one contact sheet

SHOOTS is a hands-free self timer camera: you set a start delay, an interval and how many photos you want, then pose while it takes the whole photoshoot. Here's everything it does, checked against the app itself. Features marked SHOOTS+ are part of the optional upgrade.

The shoot

Delay. Interval. How many. Go.

Three settings decide every shoot. Set them once, tap the shutter, walk into frame.

While it shoots

  • 01

    Countdown you can hear

3, 2, 1 with countdown beeps, then a progress pill on screen (for example 13 / 25). Tap once to stop; a paused shoot can be resumed.

  • 02

    A voice that tells you

"Here we go — the photoshoot is starting." … "That's a wrap!" You never have to walk back to check.

  • 03

    Built for long shoots

Keeps the screen awake, warns about low battery and low storage out loud, and pauses if the iPhone gets too hot, then carries on once it cools down.

  • 04

    One album per shoot

Every photoshoot lands in the gallery as its own session, so the 25 shots of you don't drown in your camera roll.

Hands-free start

Start it from where you're standing

Every hands-free start counts down at least 3 seconds, even on an Instant plan, so there's time to lower your hand and pose. All of these are free.

Raise your palm
Hold an open hand up to the camera for a moment, until the ring fills. Works best within a few meters and in good light. Turn it on in Photoshoot start → Hands-free start.
Say “Cheese”
SHOOTS listens while the camera waits. “Cheese” is recognized in English, on the device; speech never leaves your iPhone. Needs microphone and speech recognition access.
Volume buttons
On the camera screen, a volume button (or Camera Control) starts, stops and resumes the shoot.
Siri & Shortcuts
“Start a photoshoot with SHOOTS”, in your device's language. Start Photoshoot and Stop Photoshoot actions in the Shortcuts app, with mode, front or back camera and timer.
Widgets
Home Screen: Start, Quick Starts (back or front camera) and Shutter. Lock Screen: circular, rectangular and inline. A Start Photoshoot control in Control Center. Black & Yellow, Black & White or White & Black.
Remotes
An Apple Watch, iPhone or iPad starts it from across the room. See below.

Voice & sound

Sound like a red carpet

Shutter sound
iPhone (the classic click), Quick (short and crisp, good for bursts), Soft (a gentle tock), Paparazzi (your click plus photographers firing around you) or Beep (one beep per photo). In regions where iPhone always plays its own click, that click plays instead.
Countdown beeps
On or off.
Announcements

Talk to me
A photographer's voice during shoots. Coaching: Compliments, Pose coach or Both SHOOTS+
Pose Coach
Between shots it calls your next pose, picked for how you're framed: close-up (“Rest your chin on your hand”), full body (“Now walk toward me”, “Give me a spin!”), or “Step into the frame so I can see you.” Each pose holds for a couple of shots.
Compliments
Now and then while photos are taken: “Honestly? Iconic.”
Voice volume
Its own slider. The recorded voice is English; with the app in another language, iPhone's own voice speaks the lines in that language.
Silent Mode
Sounds follow the Silent switch; SHOOTS tells you when Silent Mode is on.
Haptics
Haptic feedback on or off.

The first three seconds

Opening night, every launch

SHOOTS opens like a red-carpet arrival: the autofocus hunts and locks, the paparazzi open fire and every flash catches one letter, then the money shot prints the logo black on flash yellow. Tap to skip. With Reduce Motion or Dim Flashing Lights turned on in iOS, there's no strobing at all: it goes straight to the final frame.
