Swipewipe Alternatives: An Honest Comparison

Disclosure: I make Solo.Swipe, one of the apps below. To keep this fair, every fact about the other apps comes from their US App Store pages, checked on 1 November 2026, and I say where Swipewipe is the better choice. Nobody paid to be listed. Prices change, so check the App Store before you buy.

Quick answer

Swipewipe is the popular choice for a reason: 4.7 stars from 100K US ratings, month-by-month swiping, On This Day and a memory map. Look elsewhere if you don't want a weekly plan (Solo.Swipe, Flic, Slider), your device can't run iOS 18 (Solo.Swipe, Slidebox, Clever Cleaner, Slider), you want to sort into albums as you swipe (Solo.Swipe, Slidebox), or you want a much smaller download.

Swipewipe turned camera roll cleanup into something people actually enjoy, and its ratings show it. It also has trade-offs, and they're easy to check on its App Store page: weekly pricing, an iOS 18 requirement and a 241.5 MB download. Here's who it suits, who it doesn't, and what to use instead.

What does Swipewipe do well?

Making cleanup feel like revisiting memories. From its App Store page:

Why might you want a Swipewipe alternative?

Mostly for four reasons you can check on its App Store page. I'm not repeating complaints here, only what the page lists:

Its privacy label also lists identifiers, usage data and other data as used to track you, and more as linked to you. Mine isn't clean on tracking either, as the table below shows. Read both labels.

How do the plans, ads and devices compare?

Solo.Swipe, Flic and Slider list no weekly plan. Solo.Swipe, Slidebox, Clever Cleaner, Slider and Picnic all run on versions older than iOS 18. One more thing worth knowing: Picnic comes from MWM, the same developer as Swipewipe.

Which features does each app have?

Swipewipe leans into memories, Slidebox and Solo.Swipe into albums, Flic and Clever Cleaner into pre-sorting.

“—” means the App Store description doesn't mention it; the app may still have it. Quoted phrases are the apps' own wording. Solo.Swipe's row is from its own source code and release notes.

What do their privacy labels say?

Swipewipe and Solo.Swipe both list data used to track you; Slidebox doesn't. These are the developers' own answers on the App Store, which Apple doesn't verify.

From the App Privacy section of each US App Store page, checked 1 November 2026. Read the full label before you install anything that gets access to your photos.

For Solo.Swipe, that comes from the Google AdMob ads in its free version. Photos themselves never leave your device.

Which Swipewipe alternative should you pick?

Depends on why you're leaving.

Solo.Swipe, if you want a small daily habit with no weekly plan

Monthly or yearly only, iOS 16 or later, 65.9 MB. It has On This Day, streaks and widgets too, and adds album filing with a swipe up, Blurry and Closed Eyes shortlists, Largest 20 videos and an Empty Albums finder. Skip it if you want similar-photo grouping (duplicates are exact pairs only), AI enhancement, a memory map or an ad-free free version. The free tier also limits you to 50 deletions a day, plus 20 per optional ad. And it's far newer, with no US ratings yet.

Slidebox, if album sorting is the main job

One-tap album sorting, comparing similar photos, iOS 15 or later and a lifetime option. It's an Apple Editors' Choice. Skip it if you want blur or blink help, or streaks; its description doesn't mention them. Slidebox alternatives compared.

Clever Cleaner, if you want one big storage purge

Similar-photo groups with a “Best Shot”, video compression, a lifetime option and no ads on its label. Skip it if you want a habit or albums, or a native iPad app. It does list a weekly plan.

Flic, if you want the app to pre-sort

A “likely junk” queue, a daily “Best 25” and no ads on its label. Skip it if you need iPad or a language other than English. It also needs iOS 18.

Slider, if you want something tiny

15.6 MB, one annual plan, no ads on its label, and it handles videos. Skip it if you want detection, albums or habit features; its description doesn't mention them.

When should you stay with Swipewipe?

If the memories are what keep you coming back. Stay if you love the map and On This Day, if you want AI enhancement or similar-photo cleanup, if you're on a yearly plan you're happy with, or if you value a large, well-reviewed app. Switching won't clean your camera roll by itself. Using one regularly will.

How do you switch from Swipewipe without losing anything?

Your photos stay in Apple Photos, so switching mostly means tidying up two things.

  1. Finish what's in progress

Confirm any deletions you've queued, so nothing is left half-reviewed. If you've bookmarked photos with “Decide Later”, decide on those first, because I can't confirm those bookmarks carry over anywhere.

  2. Cancel the subscription, if you have one

Deleting an app doesn't cancel its subscription. Go to Settings › your name › Subscriptions, tap the app and cancel there.

  3. Check Recently Deleted before you empty it

Anything you deleted recently waits there for 30 days. It's your last chance to bring something back.

Questions

Is Swipewipe free?

It's free to download, with ads and in-app purchases according to its App Store page. The page lists weekly, 1-week, Premium and 1-year options, but doesn't spell out the free version's limits.

Which Swipewipe alternatives have no weekly plan?

Of the apps above, Solo.Swipe, Flic and Slider list no weekly plan on their US App Store pages, checked on 1 November 2026.

What can I use if my iPhone can't run iOS 18?

Solo.Swipe and Clever Cleaner need iOS 16, Slidebox and Slider need iOS 15, and Picnic needs iOS 17. Swipewipe and Flic need iOS 18.
